Curriculum rewrites are healthy. Event names that still point at retired lesson titles are not. We repeatedly meet teams whose dashboards under-count returns because the new labs kept the old experiment identifiers in the tracking plan.
Before you ship a rewrite, freeze a mapping table: old event name, new event name, pathway step, owner. Keep both names emitting for one full cohort cycle if you can afford the dual write. Document which reports are trusted during the overlap.
Skip the dual write and your learning journey map will lie for a term. That lie shows up in audits as “mysterious” drop-offs that are really mislabelled successes.
Bring the mapping table to any Learning Journey Audit kickoff — it saves a week of archaeology.
